Winging It, Building Cool Sh*t & Living on My Own Terms

Life’s too short for beige cubicles and predictable endings. I traded the white picket fence for wide-open roads, swapping comfort for creativity, routine for adventure, and expectations for the unknown. West of Normal is where that life unfolds—through DIY truck builds, raw stories from the road, and art that captures the chaos and beauty of it all.

This isn’t just about nomadic living; it’s about choosing your version of freedom, learning as you go, and embracing the messy, magical process of building a life that actually fits.

So whether you're here for truck life inspiration, deep-dive conversations, or a creative nudge to do things differently—welcome.

and Wild Adventures

From Stuck to Self-Sufficient

Slow mornings,
time in the country, good skincare,
Spotify, local cafes and lots of really great hats.

My story isn’t perfect—it’s a little messy, a little chaotic, and full of unexpected detours.

So... I did what any stubborn, freedom-obsessed, wildly determined person would do—I built my own camper from scratch.

I had two choices:

I learned the hard way, made mistakes, problem-solved on the fly, and in the process, I became more independent, capable, and free than I ever imagined.

Now, I help others do the same—ditch the fear, gain the skills, and create a life on your terms through DIY truck and van builds and remote work that actually works. Whether you want to hit the road full-time or just carve out more independence, there’s no perfect moment to start (spoiler: waiting won’t get you there). The only way forward? Build it yourself.

<Warning: My story is Messy!

Like the time I got completely scammed on a camper—yep, full-on, lost-money, backed-into-a-corner kind of scammed. But, as with any curveball...

Give up or figure it out.

MY JOURNEY

Packed up, left my hometown, and moved to Colorado solo to become a raft guide. Between river seasons, I earned my Bachelor's degree in Environmental Education in Arizona, balancing academics with a love for the outdoors.

Chased my next dream and moved to Alaska with two dogs, a 2WD Tacoma, and a handmade trailer to run sled dogs. I landed a job with mushing royalty, the Seaveys, and later moved to Northern Alaska to continue my sled dog guiding career.

Enrolled in art school to earn my Master’s in Fine Arts while launching my design agency, Live Large Design. I split my time between guiding in the wilderness, running an environmental education camp, and growing my creative business.

Took off for Bali, expecting just another adventure—until I realized I had built a fully remote business that could support a nomadic life. I sold everything, left Alaska, and spent the next five years traveling across SE Asia and Europe, working online, and experiencing the various countries.

After years abroad, I returned to the U.S., craving a break from visa headaches and drawn to the idea of truck life. I settled in Colorado just long enough to realize that a traditional lease wasn’t for me—I needed my own rig and the freedom to roam.

Built my first truck camper and went all in on nomadic living. What began as a temporary setup became home. By 2024, I leveled up, designing a second truck build from scratch to better fit my lifestyle and long-term travels.
